Thank you to Meg who has written this lovely statement about the results (so far) of her work with her daughter doing NDM®. I hope it inspires those of you who may be on the fence about whether we can make a difference even in a teen. Meg, I deeply appreciate you sharing this.
Before my 14-year-old daughter, Tess, began working with Bette, Tess had spelling, writing, and math issues, felt overwhelmed daily, was resistant to make goals for herself, and had difficulties following through, even with projects she enjoyed. Tess also dreaded activities that were physical. She rarely participated in family walks, backyard games, swimming in lakes and pools, riding a bike, etc. Anything that required her to use and move her body, to romp and play like other children, she avoided. As parents, we just thought this was who she was, accepted her “quirkiness” and did our best to keep her engaged in the things she did enjoy – all things art.
What we soon discovered after working with Bette was that Tess had some neurological issues that needed to be addressed. We soon came to see that the introverted, overwhelmed, sedentary child before us was in bondage of sorts, unable to be the full expression of herself due to her neurological wiring. Tess had numerous exercises, some more challenging than others for her, that she did most evenings. Being 14 and having to creep and crawl on the floor for twenty minutes wasn’t always easy, yet she persevered. No TV until movements were completed was our mantra and I’m certainly glad we all stuck with Bette’s program. Slow going with lots of ups and downs but soon enough Tess had her third month review, and it was revealed to her and I that all her diligence had paid off. There were substantial improvements in some areas, subtle shifts in a few, and still work to do in others.
Overall, we were very pleased, not just in her improved neurological testing results, but in the resounding results of the expansion in her quality of life since beginning Bette’s program. Tess’ overwhelm has decreased tremendously and if she does feel anxious at times, she is quick to voice it, ask for help, and work through it with ease, building her resilience. She is also more inclined to join the family in playful pursuits, moving in new ways, trying new things. We are ecstatic with this and look forward to watching her blossom into the amazing person she was put on this earth to be, with all her unique talents and gifts.
Thank you, Bette, for your wonderful program that has helped strengthen and free my daughter to live the best version of herself possible.
Sincerely, Meg Cabezas, Tessa’s very proud mother
