Sensory Processing Challenges

Frustrating signs of NeuroDevelopmental gaps in the area of the brain developing between 7 and 12 months (the “midbrain” or mid cerebrum areas) are the ones that often lead to learning and behavior issues, discouraging reports from teachers, and social challenges.

Some of the issues that surface and some reasons to consider a NeuroDevelopmental Movement® program, include:

  • Depth perception issues related to poor visual convergence
  • Difficulty reading non-verbal cues
  • Difficulty responding to cues while involved in another task
  • Atonal or Inarticulate speech
  • Obsessive/Compulsive issues
  • Disrupted sleep patterns
  • “Drama Queen”
  • Distractibility – everything catches his/her attention
  • Hyperactivity, impulse control issues
  • Will do something he/she has been repeatedly instructed not to do and when asked, says “I didn’t know.” or “I forgot.”
  • Inappropriate spatial boundaries
  • Sensitivity to clothing textures
  • Sensitivity to food textures
  • Trouble remembering and following through on tasks
  • Rages that seem to come out of nowhere
  • Short attention span
  • Number or letter reversals
  • Verbal tics
  • Has to touch everything around them
  • Can’t stay at a desk at school – wanders around the classroom

These are some of the many issues that can resolve when the midbrain is supported to mature through a program of NeuroDevelopmental Movement®.
